2007'de Canadian Idol yarışmasının 5. sezonunda üçüncü olmuştur. 30 Eylül 2008'de MapleMusic ve Fontana Records'a imza atıp ilk albümü Tug of War'ı çıkarttı. 3 yıl sonra 604 Records tarafından «Call Me Maybe» adlı single parçası çıktı ve 14 Şubat 2012'de ilk geniş çaplı albümü Curiosity bunu takip etti.
Jepsen 2012'de Interscope Records ile sözleşme imzaladı. Jepsen'in müziği klasik rock ve alternatif müziğin bir karışımını çağrıştırmaktadır.
