Marcel Breuer (1902-1981), 20. yüzyıl tasarım ve mimarlık dünyasının en önemli isimlerinden bir tanesiydi.
Macaristan’da doğan ve büyüyen Breuer, Weimar’da Bauhaus akımı temsilcileriyle çalıştı. Okulun Dessau’ya taşınmasının ardından, 1925 ve 1928 yılları arasında düzenlenen mobilya tasarım atölyesini yönetti. Boru biçimli çelikle yaptığı deneylerle, pek çok yenilikçi tasarıma imza attı.
1937’de ABD’ye yerleşen Breuer, Harvard Üniversitesi’nde kısa süre hocalık yapmasının ardından, Amerika’da oldukça başarılı bir mimarlık kariyerine sahip oldu.
