The monument is called “Nicholson’s Obelisk” and was erected in 1868 in honor of Brigg. General John Nicholson, a famous figure of British Empire. The Legendary King Alexander the Great had passed through this area about 325 BC on his way to Indian conquest. The stone path, leading to the monument is actually the remains of original Grand Trunk road leading to Afghanistan.
