Currently, the castle is owned by the Pardubice Region and houses the East Bohemian Museum and the East Bohemian Gallery in Pardubice. Since 2010, the castle with fortifications has been included in the list of national cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. A water castle originally stood on the site of today's castle from the 13th century.
