Théodore Rousseau (1812-1867) Fransız ressamı.
Önce Compiegne ormanında Normandiya'da, Sen kıyılarında resim yaptı. 1831'den 1835'e kadar tablolarını salonda sergiledi. Aşırı romantik olduğu kabul edilen eserleri üzerinde anlaşmazlık çıktı. 1836 salonuna gönderdiği resimler kabul edilmedi. Bu başarısızlık üzerine Fontaineblau ormanına yerleşti.
1855 dünya sergisinde Rousseau'ya bir salon ayrıldı. Sanatçı burada Fontaineblau ormanında manzara resimlerini sergiledi.
Rousseau, eserlerinin çoğunda büyük manzara ressamlarıyla boy ölçüşebileceğini göstermiştir. Zift kullanması dolayısıyla tabloları yeterince aydınlık olmadığı halde, Rousseau'ya izlenimcilerin öncüsü gözüyle bakılır.
