Cesar Luis Menotti 5 Kasım 1938'de Arjantin'in Rosario şehrinde doğmuştur. Futbolculuk kariyerine Rosario Central'da başlamış ve Boca Juniors, Barcelona gibi önemli kulüplerde forma giymiştir.
Futbolculuktan sonra antrenörlük yapan Menotti'nin en önemli başarısı, Arjantin Milli Takımı'nı 1978 FIFA Dünya Kupası'nda zafere taşımasıdır.
