The Elder Museum in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has a unique history. It is situated in the city centre, in the Santa Catalina park, in close proximity to the port area. The building was owned and named after a British shipping company with a presence on the island since 1884, Elder Dempster Lines Ltd. This late 19th century structure had fallen into disuse, so a new lease of life was sought.
