Genel bilgiler
Muhammed b. Abdilvehhâb b. Süleyman et-Temîmî en-Necdî (ö. 1206/1792), Vehhâbiliğin kurucusudur.
1115'te(1703) Arap yarımadasının Necid bölgesinde küçük bir yerleşim birimi olan Uyeyne'de doğdu. Hanbelî mezhebinde önemli âlimler yetiştiren ailesi Beni Temîm kabilesine mensuptur. Babası Abdülvehhâb b. Süleyman, Necid bölgesinin tanınmış âlimlerindendi.
Muhammed, temel dinî bilgileri Uyeyne kadısı olan babasından öğrendikten sonra, Mekke'ye giderek kısa bir süre orada kaldı, ardından Medine'ye geçti.
Muhammed b. Abdülvehhâb'ın özellikle İslâm'ın tevhid esasına vurgu yapması ve dinin bid'atlardan arındırılması gerektiğine dikkat çekmesi çok önemlidir. Bu yönüyle Vehhâbîlik, Selefiyye hareketi üzerinde de tesirini göstermiş ve günümüz İslâmî hareketlerini kısmen yönlendirmiştir.
