Pierre-Auguste Renoir (25 Şubat 1841 — 3 Aralık 1919) en ünlü Fransız ressamlarından biridir.
İzlenimci grubun tam üyesi olarak 1880'lerde Raphael'in etkisi altında daha gerçekçi bir tarza doğru evrildi. Çıplaklar, portreler, manzaralar, deniz manzaraları, natürmortlar ve tür sahneleri ressamıydı. Aynı zamanda pastel ressamı, oymacı, litograf, heykeltıraş ve tasarımcıydı.
Manzaralardan çok portreler ve çıplak kadın resimleriyle ilgilenen figüratif bir ressam, ilk etkilerini aşan özgün bir resim yöntemi geliştirdi (Fragonard, Courbet, Monet, ardından İtalyan freski).
Ressam, yaklaşık altmış yıl boyunca yaklaşık dört bin tablo ürettiğini tahmin ediyor.
