Chuck Feeney was an Irish-American billionaire businessman and philanthropist who made his money in duty-free retail and formed the Bermuda-based grantmaking organization Atlantic Philanthropies. Throughout much of the 1980s and 1990s, Feeney anonymously gave away much of his fortune to schools, hospitals, and other philanthropic ventures in the United States and around the world.
