MOCA was founded in 1989 as the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia. In 2008, it moved to its current location, a stunning waterfront building designed by the acclaimed architect Robert A.M. Stern. The museum boasts over 50,000 square feet of exhibition space, state-of-the-art galleries, and an outdoor sculpture garden.
