Typically strong, active, and of great endurance, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is a trim shorthaired dog with hanging ears and a glossy yellowish brown to reddish brown coat. It stands 24 to 27 inches (61 to 69 cm) tall at the withers and weighs 70 to 85 pounds (32 to 39 kg). A versatile dog, it has distinguished itself as a hunter (especially of lions), as a guard, and as a companion.
