The church of St. Catherine is dated from the 12th or 13th century and is considered one of the oldest sacral buildings in the city, given its preserved architectural and stylistic characteristics of the Romanesque. The church used to be located outside the inhabited area of the town and served as a place of pilgrimage, until the 17th century when the city limits expanded to include it.
