  • Built between 1891 and 1895 during the time when Kaunas was part of the Russian Empire, St. Michael the Archangel Church was originally intended for the Russian Orthodox garrison of Kaunas Fortress. However, plans changed after the suppression of the November Uprising of 1830-31, and the site was repurposed for a Catholic church.
