South Ural State University (SUSU) is one of the largest higher educational institutions in Russia, the largest university in Chelyabinsk and the region. During the Great Patriotic War, the university became the main "teacher" of personnel for the engineering sphere. The university has 15 institutes and higher schools, 2 faculties, 4 branches: 3 of them in the Chelyabinsk region, one in Nizhnevartovsk.
