The Eastern Orthodox Church, a branch of Christianity also known as Eastern Orthodoxy, Orthodox Christianity, or the Orthodox Church, is a body of Christians largely living in Eastern Europe, Egypt, and Asia who use the Byzantine Rite and who recognize the Patriarch of Constantinople but are not in communion with the Roman Catholic Church or the pope of Rome.
