Heckler & Koch firması tarafından dizayn edilmiş bir Alman SMG. Kendisi için dizayn edilmiş özel 4.6x30mm mermilerini kullanır. 1989'da NATO'nun ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak amacıyla şu anda kullandığı mermi ile bir kişisel savunma silahı olması için dizayn edildi. Amaç, normal tabanca mermisi kullanan silahların neredeyse hiç yapamadığı, çelik ve kevlar yelekleri delme yeteneğine sahip, tabanca mermisi kullanan kompakt bir silah üretmekti. İlk versiyonu MP7, 2001'de üretime girdi. Aynı amaçla kendisinden daha erken yapılmış olan FN P90'ın rakibidir. Piyasaya sürülüşü sonrası değişime uğrayan MP7'in üretim çeşitleri MP7A1 ve MP7A2dir.
