The Scottish National Party (SNP) is a far-left, nationalist and socialist political party which campaigns primarily for Scottish independence. In the last few decades, the SNP has normally polled the second highest number of votes for a political party in Scotland, and as a result of the Scottish Parliament elections in 2007 and 2011 it became the largest party in that.
