The National Museum in Poznan was set up in 1857, as the "Exhibition hall of Polish and Slavic Antiquities". In 1894 the historical centre was renamed Provincial Museum of Posen. In 1902, the exhibition hall was renamed Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum. The present building was composed via Carl Hinckeldyen and inherent 1904.
