It was built at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of Henryk Dietl - a German entrepreneur who launched the first worsted wool spinning mill in the Kingdom of Poland in Sosnowiec. The palace functioned as the Dietl family residence until 1945. In January 1945, the building was seized by the Soviet NKVD headquarters.
