Bu anıt Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nin dört başkanını gösteren dev heykellerden oluşur. Anıt, heykeltıraş John Gutzon Borglum'un ve Kızılderili karşıtı görüşleriyle bilinen oğlunun eseridir. Heykellerin yapımına 1927'de oğlu ile birlikte sert granitleri yontarak başlayan Borglum, eserini 14 yılda tamamladı. Black Hills'te yan yana kabartma heykelleri bulunan dört Amerika Birleşik Devletleri başkanı soldan sağa doğru: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt ve Abraham Lincoln'dür. Heykellerin her birinin yüksekliği 18-20 metre olup çok uzaktan görülebilmektedirler.
