- For the first time, Polotsk was mentioned in the “Tale of Bygone Years”, in the year 862, which makes it the oldest city in Belarus.
- In Polotsk in 2000, a monument was erected to the granddaughter of Vseslav Charodey - Euphrosyne of Polotsk. The monument is located near Freedom Square.
- Polotsk – an administrative city of the Polotsk district in the Vitebsk region. The population is 85 078 people (as of 1 January 2016).
