Klasik Mac OS, Mac OS X'in piyasaya sürülmesinden önce Macintosh (Mac) bilgisayarlarda kullanılan Apples işletim sistemidir (OS).
1984 yılında, Apple orijinal Mac OS'yi piyasaya sürdü. Mac Sistem Yazılımı olarak bilinen tek bir diskete geldi ve tek kullanıcılara ve görevlere odaklanan bir grafiksel kullanıcı arayüzü (GUI) içeriyordu.
1999 sonbaharında, en son klasik Apple OS Mac OS 9 olarak piyasaya sürüldü. Büyük bir sürüm, Mac OS 9 yeni yazılım araçları ve özellikleriyle doluydu ve Mac OS X'in yolunu açtı.
