Synthpop (ayrıca şartlar altında bilinen sentezleyici pop, kısa Elektropop ve technopop) çıkan halk dans müziği türüdür 1980'lerde hangi sentezleyici ana araçtır.
İkincisi, daha önce ortaya çıktı 1970'lerde de progressive rock, elektronik sanat rock, disko ve özellikle de «Krautrock» gibi gruplarla bir Alman alt-tür Tangerine Dream veya Kraftwerk.
Post-punk döneminde Japonya ve Birleşik Krallık'ta ayrı bir tür olarak popüler hale geldi ve 1970'lerin sonlarından 1980'lerin ortalarına kadar yeni dalga hareketine yoğun bir şekilde dahil oldu.
