Microsoft tarafından MS-DOS 2.0 temel alınarak geliştirilen MS-DOS'un çok görevli bir sürümüdür. Microsoft Başlangıçta MS-DOS 4 olarak sürmeyi planladı, fakat rafa kaldırdı. DOS işletim sistemlerine alternatif bir projeydi fakat hiçbir zaman halka açık piyasaya sürülmemiştir. Adı MS-DOS 4.0 olmasına rağmen gerçek MS-DOS 4.0 farklı bir üründür.
