Sam Neill ve Rachael Blake'in oynadığı bir kara komedi olan Perfect Strangers'ın yazarı, yönetmeni ve yapımcısıydı. 1982'de Gaylene, Geoff Murphy'nin ikonik uzun metrajlı filmi Utu'nun yapımı hakkında Making Utu adlı bir belgesel yönetti.
