Guinea pigs have no tails. Only about 4% of their day is spent sleeping, and they only sleep for about 6 minutes at a time. The domesticated guinea pig (Cavia porcellus) does not live in the wild but is most likely derived from the Andean montane guinea pig (Cavia tschudii) found in Peru, highland Bolivia, northwestern Argentina and northeastern Chile.
