Henry Cowell (March 11, 1897 – December 10, 1965) was an American composer, musical theorist, pianist, teacher, publisher, and impresario who introduced non-western sounds and instrumentation into western twentieth century compositional forms and invented new sound materials and creative effects for new aural sensations.
