1974 yılında MITS tarafından tasarlanan ve 2 MHz Intel 8080 CPU'ya dayanan bir mikrobilgisayardır. Ocak 1975'te Popular Electronics dergisinin sayısının kapağında yer almasının ardından ilgi hızla arttı ve orada, hobi dergilerindeki ilanlar aracılığıyla posta yoluyla satıldı.
